The Children Act
Fiona Maye (Emma Thompson) is a prominent judge at the British High Court, where she hears cases in family law. She is known for her sharp intelligence and empathy, but her professional success has come at a high price with personal sorrows and a marriage to Jack (Stanley Tucci), which after 30 years is collapsing. In the midst of the greatest crisis of her life, she faces her most difficult case as a judge yet. For religious reasons, 17-year-old Adam refuses a blood transfusion that could save his life, and his parents agree. Should Fiona force Adam to live against his will? To reach a decision, Fiona visits Adam in the hospital. It will be a meeting that will have a very special meaning for both of them, and one that will change their lives.
